For decades, the outdoor industry accepted a false choice: high-performance waterproofing or a clear environmental conscience — never both. PFAS-free protection was written off as a compromise we're forced to make.
PFAS — per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances — are the synthetic chemicals behind most waterproof treatments. They don't break down: not in the soil, not in our water, not in the human body. That permanence is exactly why they're known as “forever chemicals.”
The thinking went that removing PFAS meant giving something up — a lower waterproof rating, less breathability, a shorter lifespan. InderShield™ was built to prove that thinking wrong.

Longer Life.
Lower Impact.
An additional sustainable benefit of a monolithic PU membrane is longevity. Microporous membranes are susceptible to degrading as their pores contaminate — losing waterproof performance. Our membrane has no pores to contaminate.
Products that last longer get replaced less often. Fewer replacements means less manufacturing, less material consumption, and less waste at every stage of the product lifecycle.
